It makes me sick. I see all these SUV’s on the road…..or those stupid Red Bull Mini-Coopers running all over town to advertise their “drinks”. And all I can see is the fuel that these companies and vehicles use.
My next door neighbors’ wife is pregnant. As we were talking to him the other day, he mentioned that since the baby was coming, he was going to get his wife an SUV.
PEOPLE! A child is NOT a good reason to purchase an SUV. PERIOD. Please do not tell me that they are “safer” and that’s why you want one. Bullpucky. Check the crash test ratings for vehicles, Your statement is false.
We DO NOT need to drive these big ass gas guzzling behemoths. We DO NOT need to keep our troops in a war solely for our mid-life crisis, baby-raising, I-don’t-like-small-cars, lifestyle. You may think: “Well, I’m paying for this vehicle and its fuel - what’s it to you”?
It’s TO me because you are using more fuel. It’s TO me because the more fuel you use, the less supplies we have. It’s TO me because it keeps the troop abroad longer, when they shouldn’t even be there to begin with. It’s also TO me because the more fuel YOU use, the higher and higher the prices will go. And it’s TO me because the earth is dying because of these emissions.
I legislate that people should not be allowed to buy these big ass vehicle without going through some sort of screening process and having to be approved for buying one. There should be screening criteria for purchasing anything that get less than, oh I don’t know, 28 MPG. Let government mandate it.
But you know what? That will never happen. The government, along with it’s illustrious current leader, will do nothing to lower these prices. You know why? They own oil. They will never take action when so much profit is being made.
Before you get your panties in a bunch, I am not talking to the people that use large gas guzzling vehicles to perform a service: HVAC repair, electrical, etc. I’m talking about the people that have no need for these vehicles whatsoever.
In case you are wondering, here’s what we own:
- Dodge Stratus 25 MPG
- Scion xA 34 MPG
- 1975 El Camino - outrageous, however, it is a licensed historical vehicle and only leaves the garage if we need to pick up something that won’t fit in any other vehicle. And even then, it only goes about two miles down the street
Get your heads around the fact that we are controlling the gas prices with our usage and recklessness of it. Take responsibility for the rest of your human beings and act like you give a damn. I’m tired of worrying for the rest of you!
